Continence care products especially designed for the male anatomy
Finding the right continence care product can be more difficult particularly for men. Often pads are just turned around with the wider part of the absorbent cushion in the front to meet the requirements of male patients. This can cause problems however, for people with double incontinence. Therefore we recommend:
Choose a pad especially for men
The use of well-fitting fixation pants is important to make sure the pads are kept securely in place. Normal underwear is not sufficient in particular when using loosely-fitting ‘boxer shorts’. Make sure the fit is close to the body to avoid leakage.
Particularly with men often two absorbent products are combined in order to improve leakage protection. This practice called ‘double padding’ cannot be recommended as it can cause skin irritation, heat rashes or pressure sores.
When using a modern continence care product, one product is enough
Instead of combining two products the degree of incontinence should be assessed. Then the correct product can be selected accordingly. Pads and briefs for light, moderate or even severe incontinence provide best leakage protection and ensure optimum wearing comfort
