The foam dressing PermaFoam cavity supports wound healing.

The results of an observational study speak for themselves:
The condition of the ulcerations improves noticeably when chronic wounds are treated with a PermaFoam cavity foam dressing. Purulent and oily coatings on the wound are reduced in half. At the same time PermaFoam cavity performs the formation of granulation and epithelial tissue. The attending physicians as well as the patients confirmed the outstanding tolerance of the foam dressing.
The course of wound healing under PermaFoam cavity was documented in the observational study. The patients were 69 years old on average and suffered predominantly from chronic problematic wounds such as decubital ulcers, postoperative wound-healing impairments or Ulcera cruris (leg ulcers). They were treated with the foam bandage for nine days which was changed three times during this period.
Results of the observational study:
Less coatings, more granulation and epithelial tissue. The consistent application of the foam dressing considerably improved the patients’ wound status. While 54% of the wound area was covered by coatings at the beginning of treatment, this proportion decreased to 29% after three dressing changes.
The high absorption capacity and storage capacity of PermaFoam cavity also reduced the number of heavily exudating wounds from 32% to 11%. This in turn had a positive effect on the wound surroundings.
Pathological findings such as oedema, macerations, or erythema were noticeably diagnosed more rarely in the final examination than at the beginning of the study.
The reduction of pain was felt immediately by the patients during the application of PermaFoam cavity. While more than 45% complained of severe or moderate wound pains at the beginning of the study, this number decreased to only 26% at the end.
All in all, the physicians and nursing staff were very satisfied with the course of wound healing under PermaFoam cavity. More than 83% were of the opinion that the condition of the wound had improved during the course of treatment.
The tolerance of wound treatment was also given top marks by the physicians as well as the patients.
